Kids Dentistry
We provide comprehensive dental care for families and children, helping your little ones develop healthy oral habits early in life so they can always wear a natural smile.
Our experienced dentists are skilled at helping children acclimate to the dental clinic environment, ensuring they feel relaxed and comfortable during examinations and treatments.
Kids Dental Check-Up Process
We recommend that children have their first dental check-up between the ages of 18 months and 2 years. During the first visit, our dentist will perform a simple oral check-up on the parent as a demonstration. Typically, children will sit in the dental chair for their examination. For younger or more anxious children, we allow them to sit on a parent’s lap during the check-up.
“To create a relaxed and comfortable experience, the dentist will introduce the child to the dental chair, suction equipment, and other tools, allowing them to safely interact with some instruments before the examination begins. If the child is comfortable and at ease, they will be encouraged to hold a mirror and check their teeth alongside the dentist.”
After the examination, we will explain any dental conditions we identify and discuss how to help your child effectively clean and care for their teeth. We are happy to answer all your questions. For very young children, we will also demonstrate how to brush their teeth properly.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride treatment is a common preventive measure in paediatric dentistry:
Purpose:
- Strengthens the tooth enamel, making it more resistant to cavities.
- Enhances the tooth’s ability to resist acid, reducing bacterial damage.
Application Methods:
- Professional Fluoride Treatment: Administered by a dentist or registered dental hygienist in the clinic. There are two common types: Fluoride Foam and Fluoride Varnish.
Treating Cavities and Other Dental Issues
- Restorative treatments, such as fillings and root canal therapy, for cavities and other issues.
- Management of dental injuries caused by trauma.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
For children or adults with dental anxiety, nitrous oxide sedation is a preferred method. Nitrous oxide is a colourless and odourless gas administered orally for mild sedation.
After the procedure, the dentist will provide oxygen for at least five minutes to clear residual gas from the lungs, helping the patient remain alert and aware.
Pre- and Post-Treatment Recommendations:
- Patients are advised to eat prior to the procedure.
- Avoid eating for three hours after the treatment.
